“An ordinary weekend”
Yey! Finally, it’s weekend! Oras na para magpahinga lalo na kaming mga OFWs na nagtatrabaho 5-6 days a week. Kapag Thursday eh pinagiisipan na kung ano ang maaring gawin kinabukasan. If my room needs a bit of make over, i stay at home at get it done. Mahilig kase ako magpaikot ikot ng position ng mga gamit ko including the bed and the rest of the furnitures. By this way, yung apat na kanto ng room ko ay sigurado akong malinis. I hate mess. I make sure my place is presentable, kahit ako lang ang nakakakita (shemps yung fafa ko rin). It feels good kase kung ang palibot mo maaliwalas even you come home tired and wasted, nakakagaan ng loob. Di va? Pero sad to say it takes me the whole day to clean up kase may stop over din ako sa harap ng pc habang nagpapahinga lol but i make sure may enough food na ako for the whole week. Minsan, i would plan to go out window shopping sometimes di mapigilan mapapabili ka rin ng kung anu-ano, but i am the type na may control (sometimes) when it comes sa shopping. Gaya last week i was planning to buy ONLY this:
You see, just a pair of shoes. When i reach home see what happened.
Weee, those are my casual clothing and some for my fafah. Pero, oist card niya yan “belat” kala niyo ako gumastos wee…
On the other hand, after kong magliwaliw sa malls of course time for a night out, not to become wasted but just for a ‘lil bit of a good time in a bar with my fafah only (most of the time) or with my fafah and some of my girl friends. Lemme share the most of my favorite cocktails in town. Anyone familiar with bellini? Sarap noh? It is a mixture of champagne ika nga pero sa mga bars they put sparkling wine (shhh.. hik hik why? it’s more cheaper lol di naman ako wannabe diva gaya ni Malu lol) and a peach puree. In some bars where peach puree is not available, they put peach tree liquour instead, which i prefer because the mixture comes out clear unlike the peach puree it makes the mixture cloudy. But it’s your own choice pa rin… In case you are interested to make bellini at home here is a tip:
- 1 ounce peach puree or peach tree liquour (peach schnapps)
- 5 ounces chilled champagne or sparkling wine
- Pour peach puree (or peach schnapps) into a champagne flute, then add champagne (or sparkling wine). The peach puree can either be made from ripe fresh peaches that have been peeled, or you can use a commercial peach puree. This is a sexy drink and i can definitely suggest to ladies to go for this.

While beating the heat here in the Emirates another cocktail which i like and of course everyone know this especially hoteliers and if you love to hang out in bars. This is the Cuban drink called mojito. A refreshing drink, like I said, after long hours of strolling around the malls or “souq” (market) lalo na dito na ang init, order ka agad nito and you’ll see how refreshing it is. Here is a peek of it’s ingredients:
- 3 fresh mint sprigs
- 2 tsp sugar
- 3 tbsp fresh lime juice
- 1 1/2 oz light rum
- club soda
- In a tall thin glass, crush part of the mint with a fork to coat the inside. Add the sugar and lime juice and stir thoroughly. Top with ice. Add rum and mix. Top off with “chilled” club soda. Add a lime slice and the remaining mint and drink!

If you fancy a group party outdoor lalong mas ok, here’s how to do it. Hehehe.. Drink moderately lang ha!
